This Peppermint Mocha Shake is packed with protein and makes a satisfying on-the-go balanced breakfast or healthy treat!
Happy December!! How did this year fly by? This month’s recipe redux theme is having us celebrating 2016 by asking us to grab a cookbook and recreate a recipe on a page using a combo of numbers from “2016”. One of my go to cookbooks is Joy Bauer’s Slim and Scrumptious Cookbook that I got when I met her on the Today Show. Yes and she even signed it (blush!). On page 216 is a Frozen Hot Chocolate recipe that looks oh so yummy and perfect for this time of year.
I was really in the mood for a healthy spin on a seasonal treat and something I could have as a meal replacement for those days when making breakfast or lunch is just not going to happen. To make this shake more of a balanced meal I added in Chocolate Kura Protein powder and a banana. For a seasonal spin I added in some peppermint extract and for a mocha twist some instant coffee. Basically this shake makes for the perfect breakfast (protein, fruit, coffee and chocolate!) I mean who doesn’t want an excuse to eat chocolate in the morning!
Also, get this! This shake only contains 360 calories and has twice as much protein and half the fat of a Grande Starbuck’s seasonal Peppermint Mocha drink. Now that’s something you can feel good about!
