Packaged snacks can be a healthy option for kids on-the-go and when you need something quick and easy! Here is a list of my top 10 favorite healthy packaged kids snacks.
Fresh food is great, don’t get me wrong. But sometimes you need a few kid-friendly packaged snacks that you can throw in your bag when you are on-the-go for snack time, to add to lunch in the park, pack for school or when you just don’t want to deal with a mess or with cutting up fresh fruits and vegetables.
As a parent and dietitian I use packaged foods frequently and find that many parents are concerned that packaged means–>highly processed which means–> unhealthy. So I am here to dismiss the myth! Some packaged foods can actually be just as nourishing as fresh foods and provide your little on with nutrients they need to grow and develop.
Below is a list of my 10 top favorite packaged snacks that I offer my son. I hope this list helps give you some ideas for new snacks to add to your pantry as well as help you let go of any “mom guilt” you have the next time you open up a packaged snack to feed your child!
These bars are basically dried fruit plus some chia seeds pressed into a bar form. Easy to chew and eat with one hand! They provide a good source of fiber and heart healthy fats and a variety of vitamins and minerals.
Happy Family Brands: Happy Tot Whole Milk Yogurt Pouches
These are my favorite go-to yogurt snacks when traveling. They are easy to pack and are mess free! I also love that they are made with simple ingredients milk, fruit, oats and chia.
Another mess free snack that includes both fruit and some veggies too!
These granola bars are packed with whole grains, slightly sweet and are soft enough for young kids to chew.
Harvest Snaps Green Pea Snack Crisps
Harvest Snaps are made with green peas and provide a good source of carbohydrate, protein, fat and fiber.
These beet chips are dehydrated beets and are sweet and crunchy! Perfect for kiddos who may not be into beets but love to crunch on crackers.
Trader Joe’s Bamba Peanut Snacks
These were one of my favorite ways to introduce my son to peanut butter and remain a staple for snacking. Easy to crunch on and dissolves quickly in their mouths, which is great for infants and young toddlers.
My son is a big fan of hummus so these hummus singles are great to add to lunch on-the-go or to pair with some crackers or veggie sticks for a snack at the park.
Cabot Cheese Seriously Sharp Snacking Packs
My son hasn’t been a huge fan of mozzarella sticks but loves cheddar cheese. These individual cabot cheese bars are perfect for snacking on or as part of a lunch.
Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Crackers
Goldfish are one of those snacks that most every kid loves. For a good reason, they are delicious! Their line of Whole Grain crackers are made with whole wheat flour and real cheddar and they go great paired with just about any of the other packaged snacks above or some fresh fruit or veggies.
Of course, there are many more just as nourishing packaged snacks out there! What packaged snacks have you found that your kids love?
