Berry Basil Smoothie Bowl

Berry Basil Smoothie Bowl

This Berry Basil Smoothie Bowl is the perfect refreshing breakfast or treat on a hot summers day!Berry Basil Collage   HELLO Summer (well almost)! I don’t know about you but summer has to be my favorite season. Not only for the warmer weather but also the yummy seasonal fruits, vegetables and herbs. I love adding fresh herbs to dishes, not only does it brighten up the look of the dish but also the flavor. This year I have an abundance of basil that I have been looking to do something with other than make pesto. Basil is full of flavor, is a great source of Vitamin K and has been found to have antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties.

Berry Basil Smoothie BowlThis Berry Basil Smoothie was inspired by a new food trend to pair herbs with fruits and from siggis new Strawberry Basil seasonal yogurt flavor that is oh so yummy! This smoothie bowl combines siggis yogurt, frozen berries and basil for a refreshing breakfast or snack on a hot summer day. The basil flavor is subtle but helps to brighten up the flavors of the berries. This recipe is also great because it only takes about 5 minutes to make, which is great for me since taking care of a baby allows me little time to prepare a meal these days!
